About Smithtown Strings

For several years, it has been the goal of Mr. William Link, Executive Director, and Founder of the Smithtown Community Band (SCB), to implement a string orchestral program.  Mr. Link’s objective was achieved in 2023 with the formation of Smithtown Strings.

Smithtown Strings would like to invite string players of all ages, who have a desire to play music in a performance setting to join. The ensemble’s repertoire  will consist of NYSSMA level five and six music, and therefore, those interested should consider the level of difficulty before joining. Smithtown Strings is looking for all orchestral instruments including Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass and Harp.

Those interested in joining should contact Mr. Link for further details. He can be reached at smithtowncommunityband@gmail.com or by calling 631-275-0443.

During the 2024 Summer concert Series, the Smithtown Community Band and Smithtown Strings will celebrate the music and artists who have been inspired by our “Starry Nights.” The Smithtown Community Band will celebrate its 38th Season and the ensemble is excited to share the season and the stage with Smithtown Strings.

Smithtown Strings has been made possible in part with funds from the Statewide Community Re-Grant program (SCR), a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by Huntington Arts Council.

Please check out the debut of “Smithtown Strings” for the 2023 Summer Concert Season on the grounds of the Smithtown Historical Society's Frank Brush Barn.
